Our Team

We have a highly qualified and very professional, caring and dedicated team staffing the preschool. Each class has a university trained Early Childhood teacher leading the team in the provision of our preschool program.

Our Director – Deirdre Wilde

As an early childhood teacher for the past 29 years, I have taught in and managed a wide range of early childhood programs, from long day care and preschool early childhood services to inclusion support programs. During this time I have been committed to ‘not for profit’ community run services and believe strongly in the role community run early childhood services play in our local communities. I am in my 12th year directing and teaching at Blaxland Preschool and what a wonderful journey it has been. I have been proud to become a part of a preschool with such a fantastic reputation within our community and within the early childhood profession.

Teaching in early childhood is very much a team approach and it has been a joy to be part of such a committed, dedicated and professional team of teachers, educators and support staff here at Blaxland. We know the early years are the formative years and to be involved in providing a quality educational program that supports children’s belonging, well-being and learning is a rewarding part of my life. Presenting a beautiful learning environment to children and families each day that creates possibilities for play, learning and fun is an important part of our philosophy as is the partnerships that we nurture with families in managing the preschool and in supporting the educational program for their child.

I am particularly proud of our preschool’s commitment to Reconciliation. In 2011 we worked with parents, teachers and Aboriginal community members to become the first preschool in Australia to write and register a Reconciliation Plan with Reconciliation Australia. Our journey in this area continues as we learn and grow with the support of local elders and Aboriginal members of the community.

I am also proud of our commitment to children with disabilities and we will continue to advocate for support so that all children can be part of our community of learners.
