Our Bush Preschool program had its beginnings by using the open natural spaces in Thomas Park and from there extending to full day sessions in beautiful bushland at Mt Riverview.

Bush Preschool is now part of our philosophy with our younger pre-schoolers being introduced to the program with regular excursions to Thomas Park. For our older pre-schoolers, regular offsite Bush Preschool days are scheduled throughout Terms 2 and 3.

Opportunities to learn across many curriculum areas are incorporated into our Bush Preschool play experiences like environmental education, science, literacy, numeracy, music, drama and creative arts.

The aims of Bush Preschool are to give our children…

  • Opportunities to connect with nature

  • Quality time outdoors

  • Opportunities for spontaneous and undirected time playing in a natural environment

  • To navigate and balance along different terrains like fallen logs and rocks, run and climb on many surfaces

  • To be involved in dramatic and imaginative play

  • To construct and create with natural, found materials

  • To find insects, observe what happens in the bushland around us and the changes in the seasons

  • To draw with sticks in the dirt

  • To learn about sustainability and caring for the bushland that surrounds us
